Pacific Angler Friday Fishing Report: July 13, 2018

OUTLOOK Epic weather incoming! It looks as though we are about to see one of the first long heat spells of the summer! All weekend and well into next week we should see sun and temps in the mid to high 20s. Though it is great for spending time outdoors, the heat will affect our fisheries. In our reports below we will look at what to expect. On the saltwater front we have had one of the most solid early Julys on record. The coho are coming in and we are still getting solid chinook reports. The heat will make the winds more of an issue so make sure to follow the marine forecasts closely and check out Jason’s saltwater report below. We have an…

OUTLOOK We hope everyone had a great long weekend and it looks like the good times should keep on rolling. We might get a little rain today and tomorrow but Sunday looks like great weather and the warm temperatures with a mix of sun and cloud should continue into next week. We had some wind warnings yesterday but it looks as though winds shouldn’t be an issue Saturday and Sunday. Don’t take our word for it. Things change. Always check the marine forecast before heading out. On the saltwater front we had a productive week with coho showing up off Bowen, and most of the go too chinook spots are still consistently pumping out fish. Check out Jason’s Saltwater report for more details. In this week’s report we also have a Vedder River update and though the water is at a…

Pacific Angler Friday Fishing Report: June 29, 2018

OUTLOOK The long weekend is here! The weather may not look perfect for tanning at the beach but the winds look good for today and Saturday and though we have overcast skies with a little bit of rain in the forecast this is actually a good thing for most fisheries. On the saltwater front we are seeing consistent fishing across the board and a few big fish coming in up Howe Sound and around Bowen. We are also seeing more coho in the strait. Check out Jason report below. We have also released another “Learn How with Pacific Angler” Video showing you guys and girls how we rig flashers on our guide boats. This is one of the most critical things you can do to…

Pacific Angler Friday Fishing Report: June 22, 2018

OUTLOOK We are in for another nice week of weather. Temperatures should hover around the 20-degree mark and though there is the possibility of a little rain, there should be lots of sun mixed in. Fishing has been solid on the interior lake front and the ocean front. River fishing and beach fishing are still just getting started and we are also eagerly awaiting a couple fisheries to open on the first of July. In this week’s report we will look at the fisheries going on right now but we also have an outlook for the Vedder River chinook fishery and Matt has his eagerly awaited predictions for opening day on the Skagit. Make sure to check both of them out below along with our…

OUTLOOK Here comes summer! After an unsettled week of weather in Vancouver we are going to see some real summer weather this weekend. Temps will hit mid to high 20s all weekend and it looks to be sticking around for at least 10 days! Though heat is not ideal for all our fisheries it is sure nice to be out in. One way or another we expect some great fishing. In this week’s report we will look at how the heat will benefit or hamper our fisheries and share some strategies to match your tactics to the conditions. On the riverfront we are still waiting for the Chilliwack and Skagit to open (July 1). We are hoping this heat will beat down some of the…

OUTLOOK Locally the weather will be cooler this weekend with some rain in the forecast. It should warm up again next week with more seasonable June temperatures. The interior will be cooler to but there is sun in the forecast and it bods well for interior lake fishing. This week we have an update on the Capilano River. The dam is closed and the water is now low. This will change things on the fishing front. Dustin has more info in the report section below. We also have a great bass fishing report talking about post spawn tactics. If you are getting into the local bass fishing scene you will not want to miss it. The saltwater fishing has slowed a little this locally and…

OUTLOOK We are seeing some more cloud in the forecast this weekend and maybe even a little rain. Overall this is not a bad thing. Of course we like to see hot sunny days in the forecast when planning trips but too much good weather is not always good for fishing. A little bit of cloud cover and rain this weekend will change things up. On the saltwater front things have been slower locally with a few fish up Howe Sound and a few fish off South Bowen and Roger Curtis. The better fishing has been across the straight but we’ve had to contend with strong NW winds to get there. There are more details in Jason’s saltwater report this week as well as a…

Pacific Angler Friday Fishing Report: May 25, 2018

OUTLOOK Welcome everyone to the post long weekend report! The weather last weekend was amazing and so are many of the reports we are hearing! The interior reports were awesome with the warm temperatures getting fish active in most of the go to lakes. Chironimids were hatching as well as damsels and even mayflies. Andre has more details in his report and though it is warming up fast we still think the fishing should continue to be awesome for the next couple weeks. Saltwater anglers also saw some amazing weather with calm seas. On Sunday the straight looked like glass. The big tides made finding the fish a little challenging but we still had good reports. The good news is the tides are not as…

Interior_Lake_Fishing_Reports

OUTLOOK Long weekend here we come! Tons of fishing reports have been rolling in over the last week. The interior lakes are doing great and the saltwater scene is still bumping across the straight but we have seen some slower days locally. We don’t want to jinx it but the weather looks pretty good as well. We should see mostly sun with temps around Vancouver hitting low 20s and temps in the interior in the mid to high 20s. With any luck the wind does not blow too hard for the saltwater guys! Check out Andre’s Interior lake report for more details on what’s happening on the interior lakes. Jordan has a report on the Sea-to-Sky area lakes that offer a great alternative closer to…

OUTLOOK May continues to be consistent fishing. With most of our local river fishing winding down we’re thinking lake fishing and are starting to scout out the Capilano if we need to stay closer to home.  Alex has Part 2 of his bass feature this week, which focuses on gear!   Have a read of it below. Saltwater fishing has continued to be consistent. There really is a lot of chinook in our local waters as well as across the straight.   We have been picking our spots based on the wind and we have not been disappointed wherever we’ve been fishing! On the course front Andre’s popular Tying Beach Fly Patterns course is coming up later this month.   Beach fishing is just around the corner so…
