Pacific Angler’s Friday Fishing Report: July 18th, 2014

Outlook Wow, what a week of weather! Unfortunately it is not going to last and it looks as though we will get rain all weekend. Fortunately the rain is a good thing for a number of our fisheries. Some rivers are extremely low and could really use the rain, while some rivers need more dry weather to drop them into prime shape. It looks like showers will linger into Tuesday but it will be back to good weather on Wednesday. Looking at the long term forecast, it appears that we could have great weather right into the end of the month! It was an interesting week of fishing for us. We have an awesome report from Max’s trip to the Kettle River where he had…

Pacific Angler’s Friday Fishing Report: July 11th, 2014

Outlook Here comes the sun! It looks like we will have great weather for the next week with day time temps reaching into the high 20s! The heat will likely flush some melt into the rivers temporarily raising water levels. This is a good thing in the grand scheme of things, as when the rivers do come into shape, they will stay in shape. While the rivers in the valley may rise a little from snow melt, the Capilano in North Vancouver will remain dirt low. This is good news for beach and boat fishermen alike as the coho will stack up in greater numbers off West Vancouver. Watch out for the gypsy in the pink shirt!   Summer Super Sale Our annual Summer Summer…

Pacific Angler’s Friday Fishing Report: July 4th, 2014

Outlook Many of our summer fisheries have started, however, it is still very early. The Chilliwack River is now open. There are still very few chinook in the river and it is running high. The Skagit River also opened July 1st and we should start to hear whisperings of fish very shortly. Some fish are starting to show on the beaches, but fishing has yet to heat up. Saltwater fishing is in a bit of a transition period. Thrasher has slowed down to a halt, meanwhile some coho have been taken off of West Vancouver. You know it is summer time when Andre brings in the first batch of his proven coho-catching beach flies! Come on down to the shop and top up your beach…

Pacific Angler’s Friday Fishing Report: June 27th 2014

Outlook Summer is now in full swing! July is a very exciting time for most anglers in the Lower Mainland. Summer salmon fishing is going to start to heat up in our local waters, both fresh and salt. We are looking forward to chinook salmon fishing in the Chilliwack River which will open July 1st. For the trout enthusiast, the Skagit River will also open July 1st. Keep your eyes on the graphs! The unseasonably low water level on the Capilano should make for an early beach fishing season. Be sure to sign up for Andre’s beach course before its too late!   Upcoming Courses FLY FISHING ON BEACHES Class Size: 20 This single evening 3hr seminar will cover the basic principles needed to be…

Pacific Angler’s Friday Fishing Report: June 20th 2014

Outlook June is flying by, and we are looking forward to a great summer of different fishing opportunities. The Saltwater salmon fishing has been good this past week over at Thrasher. The fishing will soon be much closer to home as the Bell Buoy and the North Arm are starting to produce. The Caribou region is the place to be right now if you are a stillwater angler. Try lakes in the 4000ft range and above this time of year. Summer trout fishing is just around the corner! It could be an early season on the Thompson and Skagit River. Keep your eyes on the graphs and stay tuned.     Upcoming Courses FLY FISHING ON BEACHES Class Size: 20 This single evening 3hr seminar…

Pacific Angler’s Friday Fishing Report: June 13th, 2014

Outlook Where is the rain? This past week has been a dry one! We are hoping that this will come to an end very soon. The Capilano River has remained very low with the lack of rain, making fishing difficult. Interior lakes have been the place to be lately. We have had some great reports coming in from the Caribou region, typical for this time of year. Saltwater fishing has been very hot and cold in recent days. Thrasher is still your best bet right now. We should start to see coho from Point Atkinson to the mouth of the Capilano very soon. The fish may already be there in strong enough numbers, so crack out the white hoochies and get out there!   Upcoming…

Pacific Angler’s Friday Fishing Report: June 6th, 2014

Outlook June is here! The summer solstice is right around the corner and so are our summer time fisheries. The Capilano River has been producing some coho salmon, but overall, it has been a slow start to the season. Poor wind conditions have made Saltwater fishing a challenge, limiting anglers to more in-shore areas. Coho fishing off West Vancouver should be picking up any day now being that the Capilano River is quite low. We are getting very close to beach fishing for coho. We have already seen a few anglers trying their luck at Ambleside. We haven’t heard any positive reports yet, but that should soon change. In preparation for this challenging and rewarding fishery, we are offering two specific beach courses, a fly…

Pacific Angler’s Friday Fishing Report: May 23rd, 2014

Outlook It has been a beautiful week for weather here in the lower mainland. We are still a month away from summer, yet it feels like it is already here! Aside from the Capilano, our lower mainland rivers are now in freshet. Local lakes are fishing very well for stocked rainbow trout. We are also hearing some good lake reports from different areas of the interior. Nanaimo to Porlier is producing well for chinook salmon and should continue to fish well until late June. Our Thrasher Rock charters and south Bowen charters have been pumping out fish so call soon to book a trip! Upcoming Events F3T- THE FLY FISHING FILM TOUR Join us June 12 to kick off the 2014 Salmon Season and give DAD…
