OUTLOOK  We hope everyone enjoyed a great Canada Day Long weekend. It looks like we will see nice weather this week and it should make for good fishing weather. This week we will keep the report short and sweet.   In the freshwater fishing report section, we have an update on the Chilliwack and the Capilano. We also have an interior lake fishing report as well as a saltwater update. OUTLOOK  We have a big report for everyone this week!  First off, if you have been outside at all this week you will know the weather continues to be cool with rain this weekend and a warming trend at the back end of next week.  As we’ve noted before, the cooler weather is actually great for fishing. There are a ton of options right now if you are looking to get out.  In this week’s report, we have some fun sturgeon fishing info. from Ethan who has been hitting the Lower Fraser bank fishery and it has been excellent. He goes over everything you need to know from tackle to eulachan rigging. Check it out If you want to try this very easy and cool…

OUTLOOK  With sun, cloud and a little rain over the next couple days and into next week, we are hopeful for some good fishing.  That said, things continue to be cold and with the unseasonably cold weather the rivers are low again and it is affecting the salmon fry migration. Last weekend, we saw some higher water levels but everything dropped fast because of the cold weather.   We need some warmer weather for all of our fisheries to turn on. This week, we have details on the Squamish, Chilliwack, Harrison and Stave rivers. We have had some more positive cutthroat reports from the valley and it’s well worth a trip but the 14-day trend is not good when it comes to temperatures. This will extend…

Pacific Angler Friday Fishing Report: April 1, 2022

OUTLOOK  A spring storm is incoming! Overall, this is a good thing but you will want to watch your river levels and marine forecasts if you are heading out over the next 5 days. Sunday looks like it will be a wet one. All systems could use some water so it should be a good weekend to get out.   The other big fishing news is the saltwater regulation changes that come into effect today, April 1. Jason is tuning in this week with a special update on those regulations and what it means for our season ahead!     On the saltwater regulation front, Bob Zimmer has been hard at work trying to get answers from Ottawa concerning possible acceptance of modest, science-based proposals that will allow…

Pacific Angler Friday Fishing Report: May 21, 2021

OUTLOOK  The May Long Weekend is upon us and it looks like a great weekend to get outdoors locally and enjoy some time on the water.    As many of you know, decisions were made last week re: our chinook fishery and the SFAB proposals for the Vancouver area were not accepted.  Despite these proposals being specifically designed to minimize impact on stocks of concern and focus on hatchery fish, the Minister and her team said no.    Jason has more on it in the saltwater section below but, in short, it was a political decision rather than a decision based on science.  In the coming weeks, we will drill into this issue more but, in the interim, we recommend that you find a way to get involved.  The Sport Fishing Institute of BC and the Public…

OUTLOOK  Happy Long Weekend Everyone!  It looks like we will see some rain but this is a good thing for the river fisherman.  In this week’s report we have info on the Squamish, the Vedder as well as the Harrison and the Stave.  The weather was a little interesting last weekend but we are hearing good cutthroat reports and with some overcast drizzly days this weekend all the rivers should fish well.   The big news this week has to be the saltwater chinook fishing regulations that were released. If you guys missed it, and you are planning on taking the boat out this weekend, be sure to familiarize yourself with the regulations.  Be sure to check back for any updates and amendments to the regulations and make sure to read Jason’s Important Chinook Update that went out earlier today.    On a lighter note, if you are gearing up for lake fishing, Zach has a cool Interior…
