Pacific Angler Friday Fishing Report: November 1, 2019

A child holding a freshly caught Salmon fish

OUTLOOK We hope everyone had a safe and fun Halloween! Cold and clear is the forecast for the foreseeable future and that is going to change things up substantially for the river fisherman. Cold and clear is not ideal because you will see river levels drop and become very clear. This slows fish movement and makes them much more wary. For a couple systems that have been high all season this will make fishing spots more accessible but overall it will make the actual fishing more challenging. Chum numbers have improved but are still not good.  So, if you’re headed out be sure to be prepared from clear conditions and cover lots of water.  This week we look at all the major spots and Aidan…

Pacific Angler Friday Fishing Report: July 19, 2019

Vancouver_Chinook_Salmon_Fishing

Outlook What a week of fishing! Things are bumping on multiple levels and the weather looks awesome for the weekend. We can expect a little cloud but the sun should poke through more often than not and temps will hover in the low 20s. This should be perfect for several of our fisheries.  On the fisheries front, we have heard more reports of pinks in the Squamish and up Howe Sound. We are not hearing hot reports yet, but they are coming. This week we have a detailed look at the entire pink fishery and where you should be looking over the next month. This will be the focus of this week’s report. The opening of chinook to retention was a great way to start…

Pacific Angler Friday Fishing Report: June 14, 2019

OUTLOOK We are in for more epic weather! We are going to see 20 degrees consistently in Vancouver this weekend and close to 30 in the interior. The nice thing for the saltwater anglers is that they are not forecasting heavy winds out in the straight. It is very common when we see warm weather to also see high wind and rough seas but at the time of writing this report the forecast right now it looks to be calm sailing for the weekend! As always check the marine forecast before heading out on the water because things can change fast. This week Jordan has a cool coho trolling feature in the saltwater section accompanying Jason’s report. It looks like we might be in for…

Pacific Angler Friday Fishing Report: May 17, 2019

OUTLOOK The May Long Weekend Friday Fishing Report is here.  We CANNOT wait to get out on the water this weekend  – from lake fishing, sturgeon fishing, bass fishing, to saltwater there is so much to do.  But don’t worry we’ll be here for you in shop to get ready to go for your long weekend fishing adventure!   We’re open regular hours all weekend and closed on Monday.   Alex has a great feature this week on topwater bass fishing, be sure to take a read of that below along with Aidan and Jordan’s reports on lake fishing in the Interior and the Sea-To-Sky corridor.    If you’re staying in town this weekend don’t forget about our local ‘urban’ lakes,  they are great fishing and something that…

Pacific Angler Friday Fishing Report: April 5, 2019

OUTLOOK  The first big storm of spring is incoming! If the weather man is on his game, we are in for a wet one this weekend and it will affect all our major fisheries.   Over the next 3 days we are going to get dumped on. We have had reports that the Squamish system is already on its way to being dirty and high. It will be interesting to see how high it goes, and flooding could be an issue if we get all the rain predicted. Needless to say fishing will be a challenge. If you are heading out be very cognizant of safety and river levels.    This weather will have similar effects on the Vedder and other medium to high gradient systems. The lower gradient systems like the Harrison should still fish well as it takes longer…

Pacific Angler Friday Fishing Report: March 29, 2019

OUTLOOK Sun and mid-teens weather, the fry are popping, bulltrout and cutts are out in force, steelhead are biting and our guys are catching good numbers of chinook, crab and prawns out on the saltwater – what could make it better?   A sale!  Our Spring Super Sale is almost HERE!  You have probably already seen all sales list on Instagram, Facebook or on the blog but this weekend; Saturday and Sunday the entire store is on sale! It is the biggest sale of the year but only lasts two days!  So be sure to come on down and get geared up for less!  If you are hitting the water this weekend after checking out the sale don’t miss this week’s reports.   We have had great reports from all our major fisheries….

Pacific Angler Friday Fishing Report: March 8, 2019

OUTLOOK We don’t know what is with Thursday nights and writing the report but it seems like every day we start working on this report the weather is nasty. The good news this week is this might be the last of it. The 14 day trend looks to be bringing much warmer weather and the outlook for the weekend it pretty nice. This week we have updates on all our major rivers and we have a brief section dedicated the reports of the salmon fry hatching. This hasn’t started yet but it looks to be just around the corner and something all rivers anglers will want to keep an eye on.  On the fly tying front Matt and Jordan have been tying up a storm…
