Vancouver Fly Fishing Trips - BC Lake Fishing
BC fly fishing opportunities are limitless. With over 3500 lakes in the province, and 1000 of those are managed and stocked on a regular basis. That said, is it any wonder the Thompson/Nicola region and the Cariboo/Chilcotin are known for their hard fighting Kamloops Rainbow Trout around the world. The seasons run mid-April to the end of October. During the season through a plethora of insect hatches for anglers to enjoy using a multitude of techniques to catch some truly huge Kamloops trout. Fraser River Sturgeon and Salmon Fishing
The famous Fraser River is home to all 5 species of Pacific salmon and the world famous Fraser River white sturgeon. The chinook salmon begin their migration up the Fraser River in early May and run through July. Anglers employ a number of different techniques to catch these early ‘reds’. Bar fishing, drift fishing and casting large spoons at creek and river mouths round out the most popular methods to hook these bruisers!
About the middle of July the first runs of sockeye begin their way up the mighty Fraser River and continue into the first week of September along with the coho and chum. Every odd year the Fraser River receives a huge return of pink salmon where as the other pacific stocks return every year, these salmon show up by the millions making this a very popular fishery for anglers of all ages and skill levels.
During the summer salmon migrations the Fraser River sturgeon fishing is also fantastic, these giant prehistoric beasts also take advantage of the salmon as a main food supply during this time.
