OUTLOOK River levels did not bump up as much as we expected last week. The Squamish was relatively low for Matt’s course on the weekend and fishing was a challenge. We heard of a few steelhead and bulltrout but overall it was not hot. With more rain this week and Matt on the water again, check out his predictions for this weekend in the river section below. The Vedder pumped out some more good fish over the weekend and did not blow out with the rain but it started rising on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the weather report and the river levels this weekend! Max had his intruder course this week and even a number of very experienced tiers were impressed with his tricks,…

Pacific Angler Friday Fishing Report: Friday March 10, 2017

OUTLOOK We have another storm coming and though there will be some snow expected in various areas as the storm progresses over the weekend, things will warm up. This will mean rising rivers. We may see some blown out conditions over the next few days but most rivers are low right now and could use the rain. We expect periods of good fishing mixed in with the high water over the weekend and into early next week but when the rain ends and things start dropping the weather looks as though it will stay warm. We expect cutthroat fishing, bulltrout fishing and steelheading to pick up when this happens. Check out the river reports and plan your time out on the water appropriately. Winter chinook…

Pacific Angler Friday Fishing Report: March 3, 2017

OUTLOOK We were hoping spring was on its way but if the weatherman is on his game we are going to be seeing another winter storm. For today and the weekend this could mean good fishing. There is quite a bit of rain in the forecast and it will bump up many of the local rivers. These rivers have been low, clear and cold all week but the precipitation should change things. Into next week things do not look as optimistic, with snow and cold weather on its way. Push to get out before this storm. Though the forecast does not look hopeful for early next week the long term has some promise. With any luck this will be a last big winter storm of…

OUTLOOK It was a good week in the fishing world. We saw some better reports off the Vedder early in the week. Things slowed down a bit yesterday but with some precipitation in the forecast and then warmer weather it should be improving. Squamish fished well earlier in the week but it has dropped and was a challenge for Matt who was out fishing yesterday. Check out all our freshwater reports for further details on the local rivers. On the saltwater front we have been busy again this week working to get our boats in top shape for the spring season. While things have not been red hot, if you were able to time your trips to get out on the water when it was…

OUTLOOK Well at least it is warming up. After a very cold and snowy winter season there is hope in sight. It is starting to feel like spring and with it we should see fishing pick up. In this transition period we have had to deal with heavy rain and snow melt. Most of our rivers have been high and dirty. With it fishing has been a challenge but when things drop, expect excellent river fishing. Salmon fry will start to hatch in numbers over the next 2-3 weeks and warmer temps mean steelhead and bulltrout are much more eager to bite. Check out all the river reports for predictions on when things will come into shape. Solid reports are still coming off the water…

Pacific Angler Friday Fishing Report: February 10, 2016

OUTLOOK Start rigging up the rods! The crazy weather this week is flipping on its head and turning from cold snow to warm rain and then some sun early next week. This is awesome for the winter fishing scene. In the next 48 hours we will probably see some flooding, blown out rivers and treacherous driving conditions but when things settle down it looks very good for fisherman. This week we saw some fish being caught out in Chilliwack and some bull trout in the lower Squamish but it was slim pickings. The snow made things risky last week and we saw some awesome pictures of guys braving hip deep snow to fish the rivers. Check out all the river reports below. On the saltwater…

Pacific Angler Friday Fishing Report: February 3, 2017

OUTLOOK We are coming up on another cold spell and it looks as though there will be another snowstorm in the forecast. This is going to make fishing the weekend interesting. With the cold in mind we are dreaming of warmer destinations.   This Friday’s Feature Product is complete warm water spinning setups. If you are suffering through the cold but have a trip down south on the horizon this is the perfect time to get your travel spinning rod, reels and lures. Check it out below and don’t miss out on this sale! The Vedder had some good reports from the last week and though the cold may slow things down we have a full moon coming up on the 10th and February is one…

OUTLOOK January is finally picking up. Warm weather and a mix of sun and light rain are in the forecast. Winter anglers know this usually means good fishing. We had some excellent reports from last weekend and we are excited to see what the next week will bring. It is time to escape the indoors and hit the water. Steelhead reports are coming in consistently from the valley. Check out the river reports below from Max, Sam and Alex for the latest and some suggestions on gear and presentations. Matt was up the Squamish this last weekend for his egg fishing course and though they had to work hard stomping through deep snow to find fish when they found them, fishing was pretty awesome. We…

OUTLOOK It’s warm and wet, two of the best things for river fishing in the winter! It is time to get out and chase steelhead or trout species on our local waters. Most of the rivers blew out yesterday with the heavy rain but they crested and should be coming down today. This is great for the weekend. Water levels may be high Saturday but depending on the weather we should see some good conditions at some point over the weekend. Matt is on the Squamish this weekend for his egg fishing course and some of the guys are heading up to the Vedder to do some steelheading. Check out Matt’s predictions for the weekend on the Squamish and take a look at Sam’s Vedder…

OUTLOOK Well we saw another freezing week and slow fishing on the bull trout, cutthroat, and rainbow river fishing front. We did hear of some decent steelhead fishing on the Vedder but cold days are always a challenge. The big news this week is it was a full moon and there is warm, wet weather coming early next week! Check out the river reports below but you should be getting your gear ready and pick up a day off late next week. We expect excellent river fishing soon! The saltwater fishing has been a real positive note with river fishing being a challenge. This is a great time to get out in the harbour or up Howe Sound. Our guide boats have been consistently finding…
