Aprils Courses, Dates & Availability

April is here and just around the corner is the lake fishing season.  We’ve got some specific lake fishing courses coming up in April and May to get you ready. We’ve kind of gotten away from it but we are now back to posting “What’s New Wednesday” on Thursday.  This is a weekly report of new gear, courses and events at the shop. There has been quite a bit going on in the store over the last couple of weeks.  It seems our customers have settled into the new store and hopefully everyone has been able to find us. For this week we’ve received quite a few new products, including some custom tied flies, tube fly accessories from HMH, and lots of fishy stuff from Umpqua. March Courses, Dates & Availability

For the BC Coastal Angler March is a month of promise.  There is so much going on at this time of year that all of the boys in the store are itching to take time off to maximize time on the water.  From dime bright winter steelhead, to cutties and bulltrout smashing fry, to winter springs, prawns and crabs in the salt chuck…there is no shortage of fishing opportunities.  So make sure to get out there and get your line in the water!!! New Location Now Open!

The Pacific Angler crew is excited to announce that the new location on 78 E. Broadway is officially open for business. All of the staff are extremely proud of our new store and are looking forward to making it the new Pacific Angler home.  Here are a couple of pictures of the new location for you to check out. February Courses, Dates & Availability

It’s hard to believe that February is just around the corner.  The staff are getting ready for our big move at the end of February.  However, the boys are excited about the upcoming courses for the month of February. To start Jason will be getting into the nitty gritty of the local saltwater scene with “Mastering Local Saltwater Salmon Fishing”.  If you are getting into the sport of salmon fishing, or want to learn more about the local scene then this course is a must.  Benefit from the years of experience Jason has had on the chuck and learn the secrets that makes him a top rod. What’s New Wednesday, S.A.T FLIES (snap a tail)

The idea behind these flies is to have an alternative to trailer hooks, more movement and interchangable tails if your hook goes dull.  You can tie different tails in different sizes and colours to match your fly and snap them on by the river or at home. The snaps I use are found in our salwater section.  I use the smallest size.  To put on the snap I use 20Ib mono.The hook for the tail part is a 2451 Daichi but you can use any straight eye hook of your choice.Here is an example of a S.A.T fly. Step-by-Step Step 1: put the mono through the snap and tie on the shank firmly.   Step 2: put the tag ends into the eye of the hook and fold…

January Courses, Dates & Availability

Pacific Angler has got some great courses to start 2012.  One of our two most popular course of the year are Steelhead Float Fishing and Fly Fishing Egg Patterns.  A new course Pacific Angler is doing is the Warm Water Boot Camp.  Casting expert Matt Sharp will be leading this new and exciting course.  The goal of the course is to prepare you for an upcoming warm water trip.  The focus will be on casting, stripping, fishing setup and putting you in real life situations. What’s New Wednesday, Simms’ Layering Systems

Just before Christmas Pacific Angler received a shipment of the essential base layers to keep the winter steelhead fishermen both warm and dry. This includes the Waderwick fleece top and bottom, the Guide fleece pant, Waderwick bottom & crew top, DownUnder Merino bottom & ziptop and Rivertek bottom and top. Pacific Angler also carries other essentials such as toques, gloves, and winter socks.  All of Simms products are made specifically for the fishermen with quality and durability in mind.
