The cool brisk days of fall have arrived in the Lower Mainland. With the cooler temperatures and a little rain, the salmon start pouring into our local rivers!

Pacific Angler has some great courses for the months of September and October with a focus on the local salmon fishing in the rivers. In addition, due to high demand Jason Tonelli has added an extra date for his famous Mastering Local Saltwater Salmon Fishing course. This will be the last saltwater course for the year and availability is limited so make sure to call today to book your spot.

This course is designed to give the new fly fisher the basic knowledge, casting skills and fly fishing strategies to effectively fish our local waters. This course is comprised of two sessions: a 3hr evening seminar and a 3hr casting session.

Cost: $100.00 (before taxes)

Date(s): September 19 (theory) & 23 (casting) & October 24 (theory) & 28 (casting).


Over 50 million salmon migrate past Vancouver annually.  Learn how to catch these fish with Pacific Angler. This course offers an in-depth look at the local saltwater scene. We cover the local saltwater salmon fishing for the entire year, showing you the how, when, and where. The course includes a 3hr evening seminar and a full guided day on the water in our 27ft Grady White.

Cost: $225.00 (before taxes)

This course is comprised of two sessions and will give you an in-depth look at how to catch fall salmon. The evening seminar cover floats fishing, spinner fishing and spoon fishing, the three most productive techniques to catch salmon in a river. The second session will be a guided day out on the water putting the theory into practice.

Fly fishing for salmon is one of the most exciting fisheries in the Lower Mainland. Let us teach you the techniques and the hot spots to give you a well rounded foundation. Then put the skills into practice during a fully guided day on the water.

Fly fishing for coho in rivers is one of the most challenging yet rewarding fisheries in the Lower Mainland. Your instructor will teach you the techniques and strategies used to fish effectively for these acrobatic fish. You will then put theory into practice during a day on the water featuring demonstrations and person-to-person instruction.

Cost: $225.00 (before taxes)

Date(s): October 30 (Theory) & November 3 or 4 (on-the-water).


Join Pacific Angler for a night of tying flies specific to catching salmon in our coastal rivers. Your instructor for the night will walk you through each fly step-by-step, as you follow. A full material list will be supplied before the course. These materials will be offered at a 10% discount for the duration of the course. This course is suitable to fly tiers with a basic knowledge.

The Original Intruder Fly Tying Demo Night is back! Often imitated but never duplicated, our original intruder fly tying course is back once again. Dimitri will be demonstrating the techniques he uses to tie this effective pattern. Dimtri will show you how to use Rhea, Ostrich, Amherst, Polar Bear, and the latest materials to make intruders that no steelhead or salmon can resist. This is a step-by-step course. A material list will be included. Each student is entitled to a 10% discount for the duration of the course.
