OUTLOOK  We have very nice fishing weather this weekend with a mix of sun and cloud and mid teen temperatures.  It is a great time to be an angler in the Vancouver area for sure!  This week, we have updates on the Valley Rivers, Sea to Sky Rivers and Interior lakes fishing but it is also time to start looking at bass fishing, carp fishing, cutthroat fishing and even a little early salmon river fishing/scouting.   Jordan has a Capilano primer where we have heard of a coho or two, Eric has the cutthroat article and Gavin takes a quick look at bass fishing.  We just got our bass and carp sections restocked so if you’re heading out be sure to check out details below and…

OUTLOOK  Long weekend incoming!   First off, we want to wish everyone a Happy Easter Long Weekend.   We hope everyone has a chance to hunt some rabbit eggs and maybe sneak out for some fishing.  The shop is open today, Good Friday, until 7PM in case you need to pick up anything for your long weekend fishing.  We are open Saturday and Sunday with regular business hours. We will be closed Monday, for the Long Weekend, to spend some time with family and friends out on the water.   We have a big report this week. OUTLOOK  We hope everyone enjoyed last weekend’s epic weather! This weekend looks a little less like patio weather and more like classic early Vancouver spring weather. We will see a mix of light rain and clouds with a little sun poking through. This should make for some great steelhead weather. Last week, we saw good reports across the board on this front. We also saw the chinook fishing pick up again. Last week, we saw things get challenged in the saltwater, but we have had solid trips south end of Bowen and across the strait. Outlook   Spring is Coming! We have an epic weekend of weather incoming and with it we expect fishing to pick up across the fisheries!   Local Lakes are getting stocked. Salmon fry are out. Steelhead reports are coming in strong, and we are even hearing that some low elevation interior lakes are close!   In this week’s report, we have details on the local lake stocking, the coastal river fishing and Jason tunes in with some updates on the upcoming interior lake fishing season. OUTLOOK  There is a warm spell coming! It is just not coming this weekend. We are going to see some more wet reasonably cold weather over the weekend but next weekend, if the weather man is on his game, looks amazing with the first 16-degree days in the forecast!   We expect this weekend to be good because we need water on many of our local rivers and then next weekend should be worth marking on the calendar.   Right now, as we write the report, we are not seeing many salmon fry in the local systems and the water is low. OUTLOOK  March is here but, it looks as though moderate winter weather is still in the cards for next week. That said, it will be a damp and relatively cold weekend with nighttime temps just above freezing in Vancouver.  Higher elevations should see some snow.  Over the last week, we heard some good reports across the fisheries but, there were also some water level issues.   The Squamish has stayed low all week, but the Chilliwack rose yesterday and got colored. Ideally, we want opposite conditions for these two rivers. OUTLOOK  We are almost at the end of February and the first day of Spring is now under one month away! River anglers should be looking at journals, old reports, weather forecasts and getting their gear ready. In the next 3 weeks we should see the first noticeable “hatch” of salmon fry and peak steelhead migration timing for many of the valley rivers.   When looking at the weather for this weekend, and over the next 14 days, we are in for a little cold snap early next week but nothing too far off seasonal averages. OUTLOOK  We had a good week of fishing after the rivers settled from last week’s storms and we expect more solid fishing with a nice mix of clouds and reasonably light precipitation to keep the water levels from getting too low.     This week we have details on the Squamish and the Chilliwack, but the big news is tomorrow as we are hosting the BC fly Guys at the store!
