The Role: Marketing Specialist

The Marketing Specialist (MS) will develop and lead organic and paid media strategies for both ecommerce and brick and mortar retail store.   These strategies will drive customer acquisition and retention, long-term customer and revenue growth, online traffic and retail store traffic.   

This role works closely with the Owner, Operations Manager and Retail Store Manager to improve the online customer experience and support company targets and KPIs. The MS will manage and execute organic online content, promotions, and core messaging across the Pacific Angler eCommerce store and related channels.

The Marketing Specialist will organize and curate blog content, social media posts (static posts, reels, stories) and publish event content, tutorials, and product-focused resources across all customer communication platforms.  As well you will be the lead on creating and maintaining email marketing content and flows. 

This position requires a strong paid media strategist who understands the fishing calendar and can align paid media plans with seasonal priorities, product launches, and customer demand.

The MS will create content independently and collaborate with internal team members and third parties to produce social media content and ads highlighting all aspects of the company including retail products as well as guided fishing trips, events and education. 

Key Responsibilities

1.  Regular Social Media Planning and Posting

  • Plan and post unpaid content across social media platforms Facebook/Instagram/YouTube. 
  • Coordinate content plan with Management team based on seasonality, instore product launches, instore courses and special events

2.  Paid Media Management (Meta + Google)

  • Plan, launch, and optimize campaigns across:
    • Facebook / Instagram (Meta Ads)
    • Google Ads (Performance Max, Search, Shopping, Display)
    • Manage full funnel strategy (prospecting, retargeting, retention)
    • Build and test audiences, creatives, offers and messaging
    • Monitor and optimize campaigns for ROAS, CPA, and conversion rate
    • Run A/B tests on ads, landing pages, and targeting
    • Budget, Track and report on campaign performance
    • Plan budgets and allocate spend based on performance

3. Email & Retention Marketing

  • Own the full email marketing calendar (campaigns + flows)
  • Build, design, and deploy emails (no external designer needed)
  • Create:
    • Promotional campaigns
    • New arrivals launches
    • New newsletter sign up flows
    • Abandoned cart flows
    • Post-purchase flows
    • Segment audiences and optimize for conversion and retention

4. Creative Production (Ads + Email)

  • Design and produce:
    • Static ads
    • Basic video edits
    • Email creatives
    • Website homepage creatives
    • Maintain brand consistency across all marketing channels
    • Rapidly test new creative angles and concepts

5. Shopify Product Management As It Pertains to Launches and Promotions

  • Coordinate timely uploads up new arrivals and launches to ensure accuracy of:
    • Product titles, descriptions, tags
    • Pricing and variants
    • Images and metadata
    • Optimize product data for both ads and SEO

6. Analytics & Reporting

  • Track and report on key KPIs:
    • ROAS
    • Conversion rate
    • AOV
    • CAC
  • Use tools like:
    • Shopify Analytics
    • Google Analytics
    • Meta Ads Manager
  • Provide actionable insights and recommendations to management team

Experience & Requirements
3-5 years of digital marketing experience in a retail or eCommerce environment is preferred, including:

  • Strong experience with:
    • Ability to create strong product and lifestyle content for eCommerce
    • Understanding of current web and social media trends
    • Managing multiple web or marketing projects
    • Writing and publishing product copy
    • Strong problem-solving skills and sound judgment
    • Ability to identify and implement improvements to the online shopping experience (UX, personalization, segmentation)
    • Paid advertising platforms including (Google Ads, Meta Ads, PPC, paid social)
    • Shopify, YouTube and email platforms such as Mailchimp or Klaviyo
    • Basic graphic design skills (Photoshop, Canva, etc.)
    • Google Analytics and web analytics tools
  • Good To Have:
    • Experience with influencer/UGC campaigns
    • Basic video editing (CapCut, Premiere, etc.)
    • A genuine interest in fishing!
