Turn any hook into an inverted jig hook with these tungsten ‘head turning’ beads. Because the weight is offset, hooks invert during the drift or when suspended under a striker indicator. They are very popular on today's jig hooks, especially when tying leeches, blobs, balanced style damsel fly, mayfly and Euro style nymphs, They reliably turn the fly upside down which reduces snags and leads to more fish being hooked securely in the upper jaw. They also are heavier than equivalent sizes of slotted or countersunk tungsten beads because less of the bead is removed to accommodate the hook.
Recommended Hook Sizing:
1/8” (3.5mm): A larger size that is a popular choice for larger leeches, blobs, and larger Euro nymphs. Pairs well with jig hooks size #8, #10, #12.
7/64” (3.0mm): A good all around size, great for mini leeches, nymphs, and smaller Euro nymphs. Pairs well with jig hooks size #10, #12, #14.
3/32” (2.5mm): A small size that is great for more sublte presentations and smaller profile nymphs or suggestive patterns. Pairs well with jig hooks size #14, #16, #18.
The hook profile, wire thickness and hook gap of the particular hook you are using may impact fit.
