September is here, and that means some of our favourite fishing of the year is underway! The Fraser Mouth chinook opener did not disappoint, with our boats finding some great chinook and hatchery coho despite some challenging conditions. While some fish moved upriver with the recent rain, the best news is that there are plenty more chinook on the way, with the biggest fish of the year typically reaching the Fraser Mouth around mid-September.
Freshwater anglers have plenty to look forward to as well. Fraser River sturgeon fishing is now at peak season, with some truly impressive fish being landed this week. On the Interior lakes, cooler temperatures have kicked off the fall chironomid season, with another three to four weeks of some excellent bobber-down fishing ahead.
If you're planning to get out this weekend, now is a great time to make sure your gear is ready. Whether you're chasing a September chinook, a Fraser River monster, or looking for that first big fall chironomid hatch, there is lots to be excited about.
One quick shop reminder: We are open regular hours all weekend but will be closed Monday, September 7 for the Labour Day holiday. Stop by before you head out and we'll get you set up for the weekend.

FRASER RIVER STURGEON FISHING REPORT
If you have been reading our reports, you know that this time of the year is when some of the biggest sturgeon of the year get caught in the Lower Fraser River. The salmon migration really gets the monsters moving and the bite is on right now!

Josh and his guests from Australia were out yesterday and hooked multiple fish over 8 feet! Truly the trip of a lifetime. We specialize in Lower Fraser River sturgeon fishing, where the fish are aggressive and fight hard. It is now peak season. If you want to hook the largest freshwater fish in North America, that rips line off the reel and comes flying out of the water, all only minutes from downtown Vancouver, now is the time!

STILLWATER FISHING REPORTS
BC Interior Lake Fishing Report
It’s the first week of September and things have really cooled down in Region 3 and 5. We have had a much cooler late August and early September than last year where we had a heat wave this time of year.
The cooler weather these past few weeks have dropped the temps on a lot of lakes down into the mid to low 60’s F and the bugs and trout are responding. The fall chironomid season is now underway and if the chrons aren’t hatching, anglers have been doing well on bloodworms, leeches and blobs.
A sample from a trout this week and a very typical one for early September with a mix of bloodworms and chironomids.
We should have a good 3-4 weeks of fall chironomid hatches now, then as we enter October and the temps drop even more, we will start to fish leeches, blobs, and scuds on the regular. Until then we are happy to tie on the chironomids and watch that bobber disappear!

Vancouver Saltwater Salmon Fishing Report
Finally, the first week of September is here and that means big chinook off the Fraser Mouth. Opening day did not disappoint, and despite some challenging conditions, our boats did well for chinook and hatchery coho.

Some fish definitely went up the river with the low pressure and recent rain, but the good news is there are plenty more chinook on the way. In fact, peak migration for the biggest chinook of the year is mid-September, so there are plenty more slabs on the way!
If you haven’t made it out yet, there is still time. Come by the shop for the hot flashers, teaser heads, and bait.
