Special Report – Set Your Fishing Calendar Forward

As you may know we are seeing record temperatures across the province. You will want to set your fishing calendar ahead 2-3 weeks! This is great news for lake fishermen but you will want to get ahead of the curve. It is impossible to call it right now, but we have had seasons in the past where it gets too hot too fast. For the guys who got out early they had the best fishing of their lives but the guys who were little late struggled with warm water. Lake Fishing Course April 18th With this in mind we have a chironomid course taught by lake fishing expert and biologist Trevor Welton. This course is specifically designed to get you ready early so you can…

Pacific Angler Friday Fishing Report: April 1, 2016

BIG REMINDER – IT IS A NEW LICENSE YEAR!  You can purchase your 2016-2017 license HERE! Outlook What an awesome week of weather! I think spring is here. My only concern is that we might skip spring and go right into summer! For a number of fisheries that would not be a bad thing and this weather is awesome.  For a couple, the heat will cause some issues but let’s focus on the good news first. Saltwater salmon season is in full swing and the guys enjoying the weather are also catching fish. The harbour had some good fishing again late this week and we also heard whispers of good fishing on the hump. The South Bowen Island “Hump” fishery historically kicks off in about…

Pacific Angler Friday Fishing Report: March 11, 2016

Outlook Well here comes another storm. That said the weather man was a little off last weekend. We predicted that rivers would blow out. On Saturday we were not far off the mark and the Squamish coloured up by mid morning but we missed the call for Sunday. The river was very high but the clarity was ok. We had to reschedule one trip but Ryan was fishing on Sunday and had limited access but solid fishing in the upper river. This just goes to show that watching river levels and taking a gamble can pay off. This weekend we are seeing another big storm. The wind ripped yesterday and and there is quite a bit of rain in the forecast but with most of…

Pacific Angler Friday Fishing Report: February 19, 2016

Outlook Well it has been another wet week in Vancouver. River conditions have been a challenge and the valley rivers have been blown out. The Sea to Sky rivers have been up and down but the guys who know how to watch river levels have had some good fishing. Looking into the weekend, the valley will still have water level issues but when things have been blown out for an extended period of time the fishing will be hot when water levels drop. It is not a bad idea to start looking at your schedule  to book some time off for next week or the week after. The Squamish system came down into fish-able levels yesterday and depending on how much water comes, we may…

Pacific Angler Friday Fishing Report: January 28, 2016

Outlook Another week of heavy rain but all is not doom and gloom. The rain has made condition challenging but for winter river fisherman when you follow the water levels, every bump of water will bring windows of brilliant fishing. Early in the week we saw one of these windows. The boys were putting up good numbers float fishing and fly fishing for steelhead on the Vedder, and we had some great reports from the Squamish and Stave trout fisheries when the water came down from last weekend’s blow out. Most of our rivers blew out mid week and with more rain in the forecast they will be probably be blown out into the weekend but keep your eyes on the river levels. When the…

Pacific Angler Friday Fishing Report: January 22, 2016

Outlook This week was a major week for weather. We saw big dumps of rain and in some cases snow. Yesterday saw the largest amount of precipitation and most of our rivers blew out. Mixed in with the classic Vancouver weather we had some windows of great fishing. Before the river went out we had solid Vedder – Chilliwack river fishing reports. Float fisherman and fly fisherman were stacking up numbers and our inbox is loaded with great steelhead pictures. On Thursday the river was too coloured to fish effectively but the weather for the weekend looks good and she should come into shape. Check out the report Dimitri put together below and if you have been on the fence about booking a guided trip…
