Pacific Angler Friday Fishing Report – January 30, 2015

OUTLOOK The river levels are dropping nicely, there is no major rain in the forecast, winds will be good in the harbor and with only a little drizzle hitting the valley, the weekend should be good for both river fisherman and ocean anglers! In the report this week we have some great info on the winter chinook scene. The guys were out on the water in short sleeves on Wednesday and the fishing was solid. Our river guides have been watching river levels closely and are excited about the next week. If you were thinking about a guided trip on the Vedder take a look at the report and give us a call. It should be good for the next few weeks. Don’t miss our…

Winter Chinook Salmon Fishing – Book Your Trip Now!

There is no need to wait until the spring or summer to get out on the water and get your fishing fix!  In Vancouver we are blessed with ability to fish every day of the year, with the weather usually being our only hinderance! This year we are experiencing some of the best winter chinook fishing we have seen in many, many years, as the large amount of herring in the Strait of Georgia this winter seems to be drawing in good numbers of chinook from our neighbours down in Puget Sound.  Our expert guides are all winter chinook specialists, as this is often when they do most of their own personal fishing!  It is also a great time of year to add some fresh…

Pacific Angler’s Friday Fishing Report January 9, 2015

Outlook The weatherman is forecasting light winds in the harbour and only a few spotty showers in the valley. It also looks as though we will see a warming trend Saturday – Sunday. These are all good things for the winter angler, whether you like hiking rivers or braving the salt chuck. Many of the rivers blew out with the rain and wet snow last weekend but are coming into shape nicely. We are hearing quite a few early steelhead reports from the Vedder and a number of good fly fishing reports from the valley and the Sea to Sky corridor. Bottom line, it looks like a good weekend to head out fishing. Check the detailed report below. There are also a few things happening…

Pacific Angler’s Friday Fishing Report: December 19th, 2014

Outlook A momentary break in the nasty weather has allowed the local rivers to drop into a high but fishable state. Unfortunately, more rain is expected over the weekend, and this will likely push the rivers back out of the realm of fishability. The good news is, next week is supposed to be dry for the most part, and the temperature will drop below freezing for a few consecutive nights. This should give us a good window to get out and do some early winter steelhead fishing, at least until the next warm rain front moves in!   Pacific Angler Holiday Hours If you still have a few more items on your Christmas shopping list we have extended holiday hours so there is plenty of…

What’s on Andre’s Christmas Wish List?

I actually had one…

Pacific Angler’s Friday Fishing Report: December 12th, 2014

Outlook It has been an interesting week here in the Lower Mainland, and all of southwest British Columbia. We were hit by several intense Pacific storms bringing unseasonably warm temperatures and extreme amounts of precipitation in a short period of time. Many parts of the province have seen flooding and landslides, resulting in home evacuation in some areas. Fortunately, the storms have passed, and the long term forecast looks relatively stable. Although the rain has let up, the temperature will remain well above freezing for at least the next week. This means that the rivers will take a long time to drop back down to a fishable level. We advise everyone not to venture out on the rivers until things settle down. You won’t be…

Pacific Angler’s Friday Fishing Report: December 5th, 2014

Outlook This past week was a cold one in Vancouver, and with it came the first snow! Lucky for us, the weather is warming up nicely and should be much more enjoyable to fish in. Next week’s rain may blow out our Lower Mainland rivers, which is not a bad thing in the grand scheme of things. We are already getting excited about winter steelhead, and trout fishing has kept us entertained in the meantime. Rumours of early steelhead encounters have been surfacing, but we are still a few weeks away from any consistent reports. Winter chinook fishing has been slow for the most part, and the majority of saltwater anglers have been landlocked during this cold snap. We should see fishing improve over the…
