Pacific Angler Friday Fishing Report: March 13, 2015

OUTLOOK Batten down the hatches; it looks like another storm is on the way. A big rain is always welcome at this point in the season but we’re hoping it’s not too much to make the rivers unfishable. With any luck it won’t blow them out and we expect a good bump of steelhead in all productive systems.  Bull trout and cutthroat anglers should also welcome the rain. If the water doesn`t get too dirty we can expect a good number of aggressive fish hunting salmon fry over the next week. On the saltwater, winter chinook fishing has been consistent over the last week and we should see another 2-3 weeks of productive fishing. We will start seeing a transition to fishing off the south…

Pacific Angler Friday Fishing Report: February 27, 2015

OUTLOOK As we head into March we’re looking at another week of sun and warmer than average temperatures. With little to no precipitation in the long range forecast we expect things to be low and clear on our local rivers. So be sure to adjust your tackle to match the conditions and check out this week’s freshwater reports for some tips. Out on the saltwater we have had another week of excellent winter chinook fishing so things are looking great for next week, especially with the warm sunny days that are predicted. We have some gale force warnings today, so be sure to check the marine forecast before you hit the water. March brings a lot of exiting events and courses to Pacific Angler. We…

Pacific Angler Hawaii Report: Bonefishing on Oahu

Honolulu is known for epic surfing, Pearl Harbour, shaved ice and bad traffic, but for those who love warm water fishing it is known as one of the most challenging big bonefish destinations in the world. For years I have heard stories of anglers fishing Hawaii and at first I didn’t put much stock in the hype. This changed when I began to notice that all the experts I talked to got a haunted look in their eyes whenever I brought up bonefishing in Hawaii. This winter when my wife and I decided to vacation on the island I knew that I couldn’t pass up an opportunity to see what that haunted look was all about. What I found blew my expectations out of the…

Ultimate Cuba Trip One Spot Available!

Matt’s Dream Cuba Trip – One Spot Available! Last year when rumours that relations with Cuba and the USA were going to change, we began planning the ultimate tarpon and bone fish trip to Cuba. With the changing political tides, thousands of anglers in the US are going to have access to the flats in Cuba and we expect the price will undoubtedly increase and access to prime time spots will be much more challenging. Matt Sharp, your host for this trip, has decided to go big before things change. He has booked the “ultimate” flats experience utilizing a private luxury yacht to access one the best tarpon and bonefish habitats in the Caribbean, The Isle of Youth. This will be Matt’s 5th trip to…
