OUTLOOK With the Labour Day weekend behind us it feels like we are officially into September. Saltwater fisherman have had another great week of chinook fishing and fishing off the Cap is staring to kick in. For those who are focusing on beach you can expect to see some coho now. Fall lake fishing in the interior is starting to turn on with some solid reports from Tunkwa, Roche and Stoney Lake. While we haven’t had many reports from other lakes in the region we expect that any lakes in the area and same elevation are fishing well. As we look towards September, we’ll see the number of chinook and coho increase and the pink salmon. For those of you out on your boat, chinook…

Pacific Angler Friday Fishing Report – August 21, 2015

OUTLOOK Local saltwater fishing has been excellent this past week, with the hot spot for chinook being the Bell Buoy.  Beach fishing for pinks continues off of Ambleside and Furry Creek with good tides for fishing from the beach starting on August 24 onwards. If you can’t get out in August, don’t worry, beach, both coho and chinook move in during September. So many beach fishing days are ahead! For river fisherman there are limited options at this time due numerous closures. Be sure to familiarize yourself with all the closures and regulations before you head out. Although water clarity is an issue we have had good reports from those fishing the Squamish. While it is almost time to start thinking about fall lake fishing,…

Don’t hesitate to give us a call here at the shop if you have any questions. There have been reports of some nice chinook being landed on the Fraser this week so that is a good option to get out and do some fishing. OUTLOOK August is almost upon us and we’re excited for some more great summer weather and fishing! We had a few slow mornings on the salt but overall the fishing has been consistent and will only continue to get better as we move into August. Eddie’s full report is below, including an overview of his top producing gear for the week. If you’re heading out to the river this week be sure check out all of the regulations as there have been a number of closures.  These are outlined in the regulations section below.    We’ve had some positive reports from the Chilliwack and Squamish so those are some good options if you’re heading out this weekend.  With some of the rivers closing this year, don’t forget about mid season lake fishing, you might be pleasantly surprised at the lack of pressure and the size of the fish!  Check out…

Pacific Angler Friday Fishing Report: July 17, 2015

OUTLOOK Happy Friday!  We’ve got a big report for you this week with a variety of fishing regulation updates and a reminder about one of our favourite events of the season,  the Vancouver Chinook Classic Catch and Release Derby! The temperatures cooled down a little this past week which turned on lake fishing on some interior lakes.  Along with the cooler weather we did see a little rain but it really wasn’t enough to make much of a difference on our local rivers which still remain quite low. This week we have had reports of pinks have arrived in the Squamish area,  much earlier than we would normally expect to see them.  Read on for the full report below as well as updated regulations for…

Pacific Angler Friday Fishing Report: July 10, 2015

OUTLOOK For those looking to get out and fish our local rivers there is some much needed rain is in the forecast, though likely not enough to affect the local river conditions but cloudy drizzly days can make for some great fishing. Fishing on the Skagit this week was good with some consistent nymphing.  On the Chilliwack we’re hoping to see more chinook enter the river, so now is the time to get your gear ready and head out to do some scouting. With the continued heat lake fishing can be a tough. If you can fish some lakes that are up in the 5000 foot plus level, you can have some good fishing. If you’re staying local focus your fishing in the morning or…
