Pacific Angler Friday Fishing Report: August 4, 2017

OUTLOOK There is more sun and heat in the forecast, well as long as the sun can poke through the smoke. Our thoughts are with everyone affected by the fires up north. On the fishing front things have been interesting. A number of fisheries that historically have been “on” by now seem to be dragging their heels. Capilano coho, though guys are catching them, have not been hot. There are a number of theories – fireworks have putting them off, they came a little early and scooted up the river before the low water, or they are late and we should still see them coming. We won’t speculate the cause but know that we could see a good wave of fish on any tide and…

Pacific Angler Friday Fishing Report: July 28, 2017

OUTLOOK More great weather in the forecast! We might see a few clouds this weekend but they are expecting high 20s and sun right through the week! There are a ton of great fishing opportunities that are heating up too. If you are thinking about getting out on the ocean, fishing is picking up and with the big tides from last week mellowing out we expect good things.    The latest from the water is in Jason’s saltwater report this week. Though the tides are not perfect for beach fishing we are going to start seeing some low tides in the morning this weekend and we expect some good fishing. Though reports have not been awesome lots of anglers are getting fish from the beach and…

Pacific Angler Friday Fishing Report: July 21, 2017

OUTLOOK Well we might actually see a little rain this weekend. It won’t be in any substantial quantity so it won’t change water levels in rivers but the overcast skies should bring fish in close to the beaches and possibly get some hatches going on the trout rivers. We’ll just come out and say it THE PINKS ARE IN BUT the reports have been mixed, areas have been crowded, and we have not heard of any consistent high number days yet. The bulk of the run is still not in but it should continue to ramp up over the next 10 days. Overcast skies are always good for this fishery so be sure to check the weather, tides and of course Andre’s beach fishing report….

Pacific Angler Friday Fishing Report: July 14, 2017

OUTLOOK Well we are looking at another epic weekend of weather and it will carry right through to next week. This is great for us here in Vancouver, we’re thinking about our friends in the interior who are dealing with wildfires. For those of you heading out be sure to educate yourself on park and back country closures. For a full listing of affected parks be sure to check out the Province of BC’s website. On the fishing front we are hearing ok reports off the Skagit.  It is still high and we have not heard of good dry fly fishing yet but nymphing is working and it is definitely worth getting out. Matt is on the water for the next couple days so we…

Pacific Angler Friday Fishing Report: July 7, 2017

OUTLOOK Wow, what a week! Epic weather and great conditions. A bunch of guys hit the Skagit for opening day and though conditions were not ideal, a good number of fish were caught. Matt had some time to do some scouting, so check out his report for pictures and all the details. If you are a Skagit fisherman make sure not to miss the feature product section, Matt has gone over some of his favourite Skagit gear and all the essentials are on SALE! . Ocean fishing picked up quite a bit as well. We had reports of fish back at South Bowen, Thrasher Rock produced some solid late season fishing and guys are starting to look at the North Van Shore line. The weather…

Pacific Angler Friday Fishing Report: June 30, 2017

OUTLOOK Happy Canada Day long Weekend! If it floats your boat you can break out the poutine and maple syrup, wear your red lumberjack shirt and toque while watching old footage of the Stanley Cup – or we recommend you reserve some patio time, escape to the beach or better yet get out on the water for some fishing! This is going to be a great weekend for weather and looking 14 days out, there is only sun on the long term forecast. On the saltwater front things have not been hot but we are catching fish off Bowen and coho are starting to show up off the Cap mouth. We have had boats out all week so don’t miss Jason’s report with all the…

Pacific Angler Friday Fishing Report: June 23, 2017

OUTLOOK  Well summer is officially here and it looks as though Mother Nature has been watching the calendar.  We have some great weather coming down the pipes. Sun and temps in the 20s should last all next week. This is going to be great for all the fishing fronts. People are already asking about pink salmon. We are going to start looking soon but don’t expect good reports until the middle/end of next month.  Saltwater fishing has slowed a little over the last 10 days. We are still consistently finding fish and as always its worth getting out but it has been a grind some days. All of the details on this week and what we’ve been fishing are in Jason’s report. On the lake…

Vancouver_Salmon_Fishing_Trips

OUTLOOK We will be getting some cloud and possibly some rain in the forecast this weekend but temperatures should say within seasonal norms and it looks as though all next week we will see sun and warm temperatures. Ocean fishing has slowed a little in the last couple days. We are still finding some nice fish out on our daily charters so it is worth getting out but there are noticeably less fish around.   As every fisherman knows, things can change in a day and we’re hoping for that to happen. It is just a matter of another wave of fish coming down the Georgia Straight. That could happen tomorrow or next week – the only way to find out is to get out on the water!  Check…

Pacific Angler Friday Fishing Report: June 9, 2017

OUTLOOK Some rain this week is probably a good thing for our fisheries. With Sun this weekend it could be perfect for getting out. The Capilano has been slow this season but with the rain they bumped up the water levels on Thursday and with any luck it will bring in some more fish. The interior lake fishing season is in full swing. Jason was up in Kamloops this week for a quick lake fishing getaway. At times they had to work and get technical with their chroni rigs but when the hatches came on fishing was hot. Hear a bit more from his trip in the stillwater section along with Andre’s overall interior report. The saltwater scene is still fishing well. This time of…

Pacific Angler Friday Fishing Report: June 2, 2017

OUTLOOK Well the weather was a little interesting this week but this weekend looks perfect! Relatively light winds are in the forecast with a perfect mix of high temperatures, sun and some cloud to break up the heat. Saltwater fishing has been very solid all week and with any luck it will continue. At times we have had to work for bites but almost every day has seen a good window of action. There have been a number of spots producing fish so make sure to check out Jason’s Vancouver Saltwater report. Though we are still not hearing solid Capilano River reports it should pick up any day. Last week in the Capilano report we talked about fly fishing with the Cap Bugger. This week…
