Pacific Angler Friday Fishing Report: June 2, 2017

OUTLOOK Well the weather was a little interesting this week but this weekend looks perfect! Relatively light winds are in the forecast with a perfect mix of high temperatures, sun and some cloud to break up the heat. Saltwater fishing has been very solid all week and with any luck it will continue. At times we have had to work for bites but almost every day has seen a good window of action. There have been a number of spots producing fish so make sure to check out Jason’s Vancouver Saltwater report. Though we are still not hearing solid Capilano River reports it should pick up any day. Last week in the Capilano report we talked about fly fishing with the Cap Bugger. This week…

Pacific Angler Friday Fishing Report: May 26, 2017

OUTLOOK It has been another amazing week of weather and we expect more to come this weekend! Lake fishing reports are rolling in and if you are heading out it looks to be the perfect weekend. Check out Andre’s Interior Lake Report for all the latest updates. If your plans take you more north to the Pemberton area, Jordan hit the Pemberton lakes this last week and had some decent fishing. All of the details of his trip are in his report. The saltwater fishing continues to be great but we did have some tough winds and tides to deal with this week.  The fishing really is changing day by day, from hot to not. Keep in mind that just because it was hot or cold…

OUTLOOK The long weekend is almost upon us! We’re looking forward to the sunshine and hitting the water this weekend. We can’t wait to hear about all your long weekend trips. In the interior lake fishing is heating up, and good reports are rolling in daily.   Andre has a quick overview below so be sure to read that if you’re headed to the interior this weekend.   Though river fishing is slowing down with the heat and high water there are still a few windows of opportunity. There are also many other fisheries to explore – including the bass fishery. Check out the overview of that in this week’s report. Saltwater fishing continues to be excellent. The season is off to a solid start so hopefully…

OUTLOOK This week’s big focus is lake fishing. Things are still a little cool in lake country but we are starting to hear solid reports and we expect more on the way. Weather in Merritt is a little cool but warming up this weekend and into next week. With 18 degree weather coming at the end of next week it is time to start planning a trip. With this in mind we have a number of cool features on essential gear to stay warm in the early season. Lake fishing this time of year can be some of the best of the season but many people forget how cold it is in the interior at night or early in the morning on the lakes. We…

Pacific Angler Friday Fishing Report: May 5, 2017

OUTLOOK May is here and that means many of us are thinking about long weekend lake fishing trips and getting out on the saltwater. With the warmer weather and rain in the forecast for the next day or so that means many of our Lower Mainland river systems will be in freshet.   So it’s time to put your steelhead gear away and dig out the lake fishing gear.   If you missed Matt’s lake fishing class last month be sure check it out this month! Chinook fishing continues to be hot! As we mentioned in last week’s report there are great options to fish whether here in the harbour or across the straight to Thrasher Rock.  Be sure to check out this week’s report as we…

OUTLOOK With May almost upon us things are warming up a bit. This means that some of our local river fisheries are winding down for the season. That said the Squamish is still producing decent numbers of fish so be sure to get out now while you can! While the river season may be coming to a close things are just getting going on the lake fishing front. Get tuned up for lake fishing season with our Introduction to Chironomid Techniques Course or our Introduction to Lake Fishing Course. See the classes and courses section for dates and further information. It has been another stellar week on the saltwater front. With fish being caught locally and across the straight there are plenty of places to…

Pacific Angler Friday Fishing Report: April 21, 2017

OUTLOOK Fishing reports this week were very solid across a number of fronts. Saltwater was the big highlight with very good fishing this last weekend on the Hump and across at Thrasher. Though we have some rain coming Saturday and Sunday, if you can get out it is definitely worth it! Check out Jason’s saltwater report for more details. The temperatures are going to rise today and it looks like we have a sizable storm passing through starting Saturday. This last Tuesday the warm weather and rain jumped the Squamish River up half a meter. The warmth forecasted for today, with a sizable storm to follow, may make things a challenge on the river front.  Any time we see 20-30mm in the forecast there is…

Pacific Angler Friday Fishing Report: April 14, 2017

OUTLOOK Well we saw some decent weather mixed with some wet weather this week and though we are absolutely due for some more sun, there is not much of it in the forecast. Putting the lack of vitamin D depression aside, the good news is that the fishing forecast looks pretty good. The warmer mix of rain and sun has kept the fry hatching and water temps relatively warm on the river front and it is also keeping river levels at good heights. With a little rain in the forecast today and tomorrow, but no major storms on the horizon, this should continue and Sunday looks like it will be nice. What day will be best? It’s hard to tell and everyone shouldn’t go rushing…

OUTLOOK First off a big thank you to everyone who came out to celebrate our 10 Year Anniversary by dropping by the shop over the weekend for the sale! We wouldn’t be here without our amazing team and customers, thanks! On the fishing front things look promising for the weekend. We have some issues with the weatherman but we are optimistic that he will sort things out.  While there is rain and wind in the forecast, we’re confident we can work around that and that things will shape up for some good conditions and some good fishing. We’ve had a good week on the saltwater front, finding fish off of Bowen, up the sounds and in the Harbour. Spring fishing has arrived!   Check out Jason’s…
