Pacific Angler Friday Fishing Report: August 5, 2016

OUTLOOK Welcome to August! The weather this weekend could be better for those not into fishing but with a mix of sun and cloud and even some rain we’re hoping it will be good for fishing. We had a flurry of activity on the West Van shoreline this week and we expect it to get good over the next 10 days. Check out the saltwater report, Andre’s beach report and the Capilano river report for more details. On the Skagit River we are still hearing great reports and water levels continue to drop. We have some great pictures in the report this week from the river. The Vedder and Chehalis have seen some net pressure and reports have been mixed from those rivers. Let us…

Pacific Angler Friday Fishing Report: July 29, 2016

OUTLOOK We have a great report this week, with a special feature on a fishery that we very rarely talk about. That’s right; Pacific Angler is now stocking BASS GEAR! We have frogs, spinner baits and worms. Everything you need to get started on this cool fishery. Alex, our resident bass expert has put together a great report on how, when and where, all the info you need. Check the feature below! It looks to be another great weekend on the weather front, minus some wind on the saltwater scene. We have reports from the Thompson, Vedder, and Skagit. They should all be great options if you are thinking about heading out for the long weekend. Saltwater fishing has been hit and miss both for…

OUTLOOK Here comes the summer! If the weather man is on his game we are about to get hit with the first big heat wave of the season and we are all excited! There might be a few clouds in the forecast for the weekend but the 14 day trend is clear skies and heat heading into next week. What does this mean for fishing? Well for most fisheries this time of year the heat it good. It will slow the lake fishing and adversely affect the Capilano river fishing but the Skagit and Thompson trout fisheries are just getting good, and the beach fishing in front of the Capilano will pick up because it is unlikely they will open the dam on the river…

Pacific Angler Friday Fishing Report: July 15, 2016

OUTLOOK There is some thunder and rain in the forecast for the interior. Up the valley we can expect some showers but the Vancouver weather forecast has improved over the last 12 hours and if the weatherman is on his game it looks to be a pretty nice mix of sun and cloud over the weekend.  With any luck this will mean good fishing conditions for the local fisheries. The Capilano got a short but heavy bump of water last week and we have had reports that some larger than normal coho have already reached the cable pool. As always they have been tight lipped in the middle of the day but it is definitely worth looking at if you are heading up for an…

Pacific Angler Friday Fishing Report: July 8, 2016

Outlook Well it looks as though we are in for a wet one today and tomorrow with things clearing up into next week. This is not good for a number of fisheries that are already a little high for consistent fishing. In this weeks’ report we have a couple great features on the Vedder River, the Skagit River and the Capilino beach fishery. Lots of people took to the water over the Canada Day long weekend and we have a ton of great intel. Alex was out at the Vedder Tuesday and even though fishing was tough with high water levels it was fish-able. There are lots of pictures of the river if you want to correlate it with you river level notes. Matt has…

OUTLOOK The long weekend is HERE! Happy Canada Day Everyone! It looks as though it will be a reasonable weekend for weather and though the sunbathers might be hoping for more sun, the mix of sun and cloud with low 20 temps should make for good fishing. Hot off the water, lake country is still pumping out good reports even though it is getting hot. Saltwater fishing was tougher close to the harbour for chinook but it looks like the coho are starting to show up on the north shore and Thrasher Rock lit up with awesome chinook fishing Wednesday and Thursday. Check out the lake and saltwater reports below for more details. The BIG news this week is that a number of fisheries open…

Pacific Angler Friday Fishing Report: June 24, 2016

OUTLOOK The weather looks fabulous for the weekend! We had a damp week but once again rain this time of year is a good thing. It will keep river levels up and the lakes cool. We had some great lake reports for the interior even though the weather was a little unsettled. This weekend it will start to heat up with temps in the low twenties for Saturday, Sunday and then it will get hot next week. This should be good for most lakes in the interior. On the saltwater front things were a little slower than last week but there were fish off Bowen, fish at thrasher and we heard of a few early coho off the mouth of the cap. The cap should…

Pacific Angler Friday Fishing Report: June 17, 2016

OUTLOOK The heat is coming back! We are going to see a mixed bag of rain and sun, Saturday and into Sunday but next week looks great. Temperatures will be getting into the mid 20s in Vancouver and hotter in the interior. We are still having awesome salmon fishing up Howe Sound. Our boats are consistently putting up good numbers of springs. We keep expecting this fishery to slow down but the bait is thick and the fish are happy. The exciting news is that we are seeing record numbers of coho mixed in with the springs. These hatchery fish are perfect for the barbeque and it bodes well for coho fishing around the Capilano next month. The full details are below the saltwater report….

Pacific Angler Friday Fishing Report: June 10, 2016

OUTLOOK The past month has brought with it a mixed bag of weather. We have had to fight wind on the saltwater scene and there have been a few wet cold weekends for lake fisherman, however looking at the last month as a whole, we have been lucky.  It has rained when we needed it to keep river levels healthy. It has been cool when we needed it to keep lake temps down and we have also had some great hot weather to get the hatches going allowing all of us a little sun therapy on the lakes, on the ocean or out on a patio around town. This trend is going to continue this week. We have some rain in the forecast and slightly…

Pacific Angler Friday Fishing Report: June 03, 2016

Here comes the Sun! If you are debating a day out fishing in the next couple days GO! Vancouver is going to have great weather for the weekend and the thermometer may go over 30 degrees in the interior!! This is great news. Last week had a real mixed bag of weather and with it the fishing was all over the map. The interior lakes were tough last weekend with shifting weather patterns and fluctuating temperatures. Max headed up and got hammered by the weather Saturday and Sunday but in the end managed to move around, adapt and find some nice fish. We heard of a number of similar reports but early in the week things picked back up. Andre has an awesome report on…
