Hello everyone, It’s gotten a lot colder all of a sudden, but fishing is still good in the Fraser valley for those that want to brave the elements. While the Vedder is slowing down for coho, the north side of the valley is still seeing fresh fish. This trend usually extends to the end of November. Chrome late run coho. Fraser River tributaries to check out are the Stave, Nicomen slough/ Norrish creek, Harrison /Chehalis, Maria slough and many of the Fraser back channels between Chilliwack and Hope. A beautiful cuttie with full fall colours. The Squamish / Cheakamus systems will be starting to ramp up for the winter trout fisheries, think egg patterns ,sculpins and flesh flies. Tuesday Fishing Report
Brrrr! It’s cold out there and the rivers are dropping fast and getting clear after having come up nicely on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. There were some fresh coho and chum that rolled in on those days and there was some good fishing on the Chehalis, Harrison, and Lower Squamish. Expect things to be pretty low and clear until the next front rolls in sometime tomorrow or Thursday. The key will be the freezing level. If it doesn’t get too cold the rivers should come up again and fishing will pick up as some more fresh fish push in. Some of the later coho are some of the biggest of the season. Tuesday Fishing Report and Snot
Oh, the life of a river fisherman… Too much rain, not enough rain, what to do? Well the “dry” streak continues and most of the rivers are really low and clear with the lower temperatures we now have at night and no rain. It looks like we might get some rain later this week and that will bring some rivers up and some fresh coho and chum in. For now anglers have been doing okay in the Fraser back channels for coho on the fly and spinners and spoons. Check out the blog post last week for info on fly and spinner choices. November is here and we have some great fishing this time of year! Far too many anglers hang up their rods after Halloween, but those in the know are getting ready for some of the best fall fishing of the year. Speaking of Halloween, check out this G. Halloween Weekend Chrome Coho
Well we said the rivers might bump up this weekend with the rain we just had and they sure did… Not a lot, but just enough to bring in some chrome coho for lucky Pacific Angler customer Dave who was out with PA staff and guide Andre today. Check out his first salmon on the fly! Not a bad way to start, sea lice chromer… Dave with a chrome coho only hours from the ocean. Thursday, October 28th Sturgeon and Salmon Report
We were out sturgeon fishing on this beautiful fall day and the morning started off with a nice sturgeon to the boat. Dave fighting the first fish of the day. The first fish of the day to the boat. The bite was pretty strong in the morning and right after this fish hit the boat Jason Assonitis hooked up and landed the second fish of the day. The sturgeon are feeding heavily on roe this time of year, fattening up for long winter ahead. Chum or pink roe bags are generally the top producing baits this time of year. There has been good fishing from the Chilliwack/Harrison area down to the Fort Langley area. If you haven’t tried fishing for these monsters, I highly recommend…
