Vancouver Friday Fishing Report, Nov 30

Pacific Angler Outlook: Wow, how have we gotten to the last week of November?  While this month has flown by there has been some amazing fishing.  The coho and chum fishing was good when the conditions allowed and the Mighty Thompson opened up and we heard some strong reports early on. Speaking of the Thompson, the Pacific Angler staff would like to thank the Steelhead Society of British Columbia for putting on a great event last night in Coquitlam.  The event had everything.  Great food, great people, and great prizes which were donated by some very generous people.  And the best part of it all is that all of the proceeds go to habitat restoration for the Bonaparte River, an important spawning and rearing tributary to…

Vancouver Friday Fishing Report, November 23rd 2012

Pacific Angler Outlook:  Things are winding down for this year’s salmon season but there are still lots of opportunities to get out for one last kick at the can. We have had a number of great late season reports.  With the warm, wet weather we figure you have another week or two of good salmon fishing. We are also eagerly awaiting the first local steelhead reports. Dimitri will be out looking for his first winter steelhead of the year in the coming weeks. The Thompson is open and since opening day there has been lots of anglers and decent numbers of fish hooked on gear and some on the fly. Dave is up there right now, Spey rod in hand, so if you want an…

Pacific Angler Outlook: There are lots of things to talk about this week. The boys at Pacific Angler have worked hard in order to put together our 2013 Course Schedule.  If interested make sure to call today to book your spot.  All classes have limited availability and we often sell out months in advance.  The Pacific Angler staff will also be sending out information regarding our 2013 Travel Schedule.  So stay tuned!!! Another exciting bit of news is the Steelhead Society of BC Bonaparte River Fundraiser on Thursday November 29th.  The Pacific Angler boys will be there to help raise money for this new project aimed at restoring the Bonaparte River.  There will be a live and silent auction, of which Pacific Angler has donated…

Vancouver Friday Fishing Report, November 9

Pacific Angler Outlook: Well, it is another week in paradise for the Vancouver angler.  While the rest of Canada is taking out their ice fishing rods we are hooking into chrome salmon, steelhead, feisty bulltrout, searun cutthroat, or absolutely epic sturgeon. Check out the picture below of Brian, who recently just got into fly fishing this past month. With a little help from the boys at Pacific Angler and some new gear Brian was able to hook into a few nice coho salmon, on his 5 weight fly rod to add.  Nice job Brian! Lets start off by reviewing the forecast for Vancouver as the weather has been a deciding factor over the last two weeks.  The rain, over the last two weeks, had basically…

Vancouver Friday Fishing Report, November 2nd

Pacific Angler Outlook: Welcome to the Pacific Angler Friday Fishing Report.  We are proud to be your source of fishing information.  As we settle into the true fall season on the West Coast so do the rains.  And as the rain continues to fall, the fall salmon continue to enter our local rivers. But before we get to the fishing, Pacific Angler would like to recognize Ali Alami, of M1 Innovations, for his initiative in raising money for Operation Smile.  With a little help from the Pac Ang Team and Fishing With Rod, we were able to raise just over $1,500.00 for this great cause.  A big thanks goes out to Ali and all those gracious people who donated their hard earned money to Operation…

Vancouver Friday Fishing Report, October 19

Pacific Angler Outlook The staff at Pacific Angler almost forgot what rain looks like but Mother Nature seems determined to remind us. For the fall salmon angler rain can be both good news and bad news. The good news is the high water has brought in a ton of fresh salmon.  The bad news has been that we received so much rain that it blew out the majority of the rivers in the Lower Mainland and Sea to Sky Corridor. The majority of rivers have been blown out all week.  The Vancouver weather forecast is calling for more rain over the weekend. If enough of the precipitation is snow in the high country we might be surprised. The forecast for the weekend is perfect and…

Vancouver Friday Fishing Report, October 12

Pacific Angler Outlook Fall is in the air!  The days are shorter, darker and yes, rain is (will be) a constant.  For most normal people in Vancouver this brings on the first dose of fall/winter depression, but not for the keen Vancouver angler.  The fall rains bring a smile across the many anglers throughout the Lower Mainland.  Salmon river fishing is in full swing. The Vancouver forecast is calling for rain all this weekend and into next week.  You can expect daily high temperatures to range from 12 to 15 degrees Celsius.  These are perfect fishing conditions.  It is important to wear layered clothing and good rain gear to keep you dry all day. The story for this week is definitely the rain.  Vancouver is…

Vancouver Friday Fishing Report, October 5

Pacific Angler Outlook The big story this week is still the weather forecast with NO RAIN IN SIGHT! The good news for fisherman is that it looks as though the fish have realized that they can’t wait any longer.  The Pacific Angler staff had a number of reports confirming that salmon are simply disregarding the low water. The Vedder, Stave and Harrison all had fish show up this week. The Albion test fishery blew up with good numbers of chum salmon this last week.  Salmon have shown up in the Harrison, Stave, Vedder and Squamish Rivers.  The numbers are higher than last year but similar to 2009 and 2010.  Coho numbers are lower than normal.  It can be noted that not many coho salmon are…

Friday Fishing Report, September 28

Pacific Angler Outlook Wow, I can’t believe September is almost over.  The story of the month has been the unseasonably warm temperatures and absolute lack of rain. I wish I could say that this is going to change.  While the Vancouver forecast is calling for some rain and cooler weather I don’t expect the rain to do too much to the rivers.  I do expect the cooler weather to make some river systems drop. These cooler temperatures are actually a good thing for the glacial rivers in the Lower mainland and Sea-to-Sky Corridor.   For the Capilano, Vedder and Harrison Rivers this will only make the rivers lower. The Pacific Angler staff are hearing mixed reports from the beaches.  The salmon are staging along the West…
