Vancouver Friday Fishing Report, April 13

Pacific Angler Outlook Well it’s lucky Friday the 13th.  Hopefully you are all enjoying the fine weather Vancouver has got to offer.  This weekend is definitely going to be a great one for fishing.  Sunny with some great daily temperatures. Within a two hour drive you’ve got your choice of fishing for steelhead and cutthroat trout in our rivers.  April is the peak of the run so if you are crazy about steelhead or cutthroat make sure to get out there.  The local lakes have been receiving their fresh stocks of fish as well.  Also, for the saltwater angler we’ve started to hear some good reports locally. The forecast for the weekend in Vancouver is looking good.  We are expecting sun on Saturday with a…

Vancouver Friday Fishing Report, March 30th

Pacific Angler Outlook It’s the last weekend of March and you know what that means…renewing your licence for the 2012/2013 fishing season.  You will need to renew your licence as of March 31st. To renew your licence just click on the links below.  We’ve provided both the freshwater and saltwater licencing systems. BC Freshwater Licence BC Saltwater Licence It is hard to believe it is almost April.  I thought spring was here last weekend with all of that sun.  But this week has brought rain and cloud, bumping up water levels for the river fisherman.  Rain is expected on the weekend as well. The Vancouver forecast is rain for both Saturday and Sunday with highs of 8 degrees Celsius.  The extended forecast is similar to…

Vancouver Friday Fishing Report, March 23

Pacific Angler Outlook: Well spring is kicking into full force.  April is an awesome time to be in Vancouver.  While the rest of Canada is recovering from a harsh winter with brown grass we Vancouverites have lush green grass and cherry blossoms popping out everywhere. Pacific Angler is enjoying the spring like conditions.  This morning I just picked up a large shipment of Simms waders, boots, and accessories.  The boys have been working hard to put it out.  We also received a bunch of Nautilus reels including the FWX.  Amazing reel for the price point. The outlook for this weekend is mild weather with a high of 12 degrees Celsius and lots of sun.  This is a great forecast for just about everyone except the…

Vancouver Friday Fishing Report, March 16th

Pacific Angler Outlook: It looks like we are going to have a mix of sun and cloud with a little precipitation this weekend.  The rivers all came up on Thursday and today it looks as though they have crested and are on the drop.  This is good news for steelhead anglers heading out this weekend.  There are some nice mellow tides this weekend as well and I expect some decent winter spring fishing will be had over the next few days.  We are also hearing some good cutthroat reports from the Fraser Valley.  So there is lots of opportunity this weekend, steelhead, chinook, and cutthroat, take your pick! Freshwater Report: There continues to be some good steelheading on the Chilliwack/Vedder, and with the river coming…

Vancouver Friday Fishing Report, March 9

Pacific Angler Outlook: The outlook for this weekend and even week seems to be rain.  Which can be good if we get just the right amount.  As mentioned before in Jason’s last report this past Wednesday, we’ve had some big tides.  And this has seemed to push in some fresh fish. The boys have heard some reports of fish being caught pretty much everywhere.  The Vedder has been fishing well.  It will be hard to tell if the rivers stay in shape throughout the weekend.  Make sure to check the river levels before you head out.  If you really want to nerd out make a note of the river level in your fishing journal.  Then you can reference it in the future and identify the…

Wednesday Fishing Report

We normally do “What’s New Wednesday” today, but by now I think all of you know what is new here at Pacific Angler, the new location of course! So instead of more shop pics and products I thought I would do a fishing report as Jason, Dimitri, and Andre were all out on the water yesterday. I fished a variety of rivers out in the Valley yesterday with Jason Bowers. Jason is the head guide up at Haa Nee Naa Lodge where I used to guide. He was down from Nelson to visit some family so we decided to head out for a full day of steelheading. We fished hard all day and it was cold and tough! The water conditions were absolutely perfect on…

Vancouver Friday Fishing Report, March 2nd

Pacific Angler Outlook: Well, we missed a few fridays due to the move but I am happy to say that we are now back at on schedule for our Vancouver Friday Fishing Report.  I must say it feels good to be somewhat settled and look forward to some great fishing this weekend. Matt and DImitri were on the Vedder this morning guiding a client on the fly.  The fishing was hot this morning with two quick fish hooked up.  Unfortunately both of those fish unbuttoned before they made it to the beach.  Our client then got into 3 fish around lunch time which was landed.  Not a bad day!!! The weather in Vancouver this friday was wet.  And it looks like this trend is going…

Vancouver Friday Fishing Report, Feb 3

Pacific Angler Outlook: The forecast for this weekend and the following week looks amazing.  Sunny skies with partial clouds and a high ranging from 7 to 10 degrees Celsius. So whether you are fishing in the chuck or in our coastal rivers make sure to take advantage of this great weather and soak up some vitamin D (sun). The saltwater guys are going to like this report as well.  The marine forecast by Environment Canada for the Straight of Georgia is: “Wind west 5 to 10 knots increasing to northeast 10 to 15 early this evening except light near Vancouver Island. Wind diminishing to light Saturday morning then becoming northeast 5 to 10 Saturday evening except light near Vancouver Island.” Overall, this weekend has the promise to…

Vancouver Friday Fishing Report, January 27

Pacific Angler Outlook: It’s hard to believe we are almost through January and heading straight into February.  Vancouver’s 2 months of winter is just about half way through.  I say that being from Ontario where you can still have two feet of snow in March.  Living in Vancouver, we are truly lucky to have prime time fishing all year long.  Whether it is winter steelheading from December to May, lake fishing in the spring and early summer, river fishing for rising trout in August or salmon fishing off of Thrasher Rock in May.  There are always a few tails to chase in BC!!! We are in the thick of the steelhead season at the moment.  The Steelhead Society of British Columbia is having their AGM…

Vancouver Friday Fishing Report, January 20th

Pacific Angler Outlook: While you might say this past week has been an unusual cycle of cold weather, it seems right on par for the middle of January.  Besides, nothing feels more like steelheading than walking through a foot of snow to get to that run. A chrome winter steelhead caught during our Float Fishing Course! While Vancouver received some light snow flurries the lower Mainland got pounded mid-week with a heavy snowfall.  It was well below freezing as well, which is a rare thing for us mainlanders.  With some warmer temperatures on the way this weekend and rain in the forecast, it could make for some high water levels. The forecast for the local Vancouver area is rain Friday afternoon with a high of…
